ATLANTA DRAGWAY INTRODUCES NEW SERIES
Commerce, GA – Atlanta Dragway, home of the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals, is excited to present the Saturday Insanity Series! The idea of the Saturday Insanity events is to have a fun family day of open testing and competition, with the opportunity for the racers to organize some events that cannot be accommodated during our regular bracket racing program. The new Atlanta Dragway “No Box Pro Series” points races will also be held during these Saturday Insanity events.
The “No Box Pro Series” will consist of four classes: The 6.50 Index, 7.50 Index, Open-Wheel Open Comp, and Full-Bodied Open Comp classes. This series will run on the 1/8 mile utilizing a “Pro Tree” and require that no throttle-stop or delay box be used. The winner of each class will win $500 each event and the overall season points winner of each class will go on to compete for the prestigious “Wally” trophy at the NHRA Division 2 Finals.
During the Saturday Insanity Series there will also be an open Test and Tune much like the Year One Fast Friday Series events at Atlanta Dragway. The Test and Tune entry is just $25 for the entire day! You will have the option to race 1/8 mile or 1/4 mile.
The Saturday Insanity Series will consist of six events throughout the season taking place on March 21, May 23, June 20, July 11, August 1, and September 19, 2009. Gates open at 11:00am with racing from noon until 8pm. Competitors can enter the “No Box Pro Series” competition for $45, Test and Tune entry is $25, and adult spectator entry is just $10.
“We’re excited at the opportunity to add something different to our schedule and bring out new racers to compete in this heads-up program. The Saturday Insanity Series will not only be fun for the racers, but the heads-up racing format will also excite spectators at Georgia’s House of Speed,” commented Ray Wilkings, Atlanta Dragway’s General Manager.
