The 6th annual York Reunion and Nostalgia Nationals
If you dig gassers, early ‘60s Super Stocks and Funny Cars that actually looked like their street car brethren, the York Reunion and Nostalgia Nationals should be on your Must See list of shows to attend next summer.
The event is held in early July at two venues; the York Fairgrounds in York, Pennsylvania, and the vintage Beaver Springs Dragway in Beaver Springs, Pennsylvania. The event could really be considered two individual shows, especially with their distance apart (the dragstrip is about a hundred miles from the Expo Center), but hitting the drag race on Sunday is just assumed by everyone who goes to the Expo Center on Friday and Saturday.
The Expo Center has become a gathering of a couple hundred vintage drag cars from back in the glory days, with everything from funny’s to super stocks to rails with frail single-hoop roll bars. White wall slicks, roots-type blowers, mechanical injection and engines that AREN’T Hemis or Chevys abound.
And then, amazingly, on Sunday these cars you thought were surely nothing but trailer queens, pound the quarter just like they used to. And we’re not talking about simple part-throttle parade laps, either. Gassers running wheels-up, Funnys doing long smoky burn outs, and rails rolling by on 80-percent at a track that hasn’t changed much at all since about ’65. They even flag start a bunch of races! YearOne was proud to be a title sponsor of this event, and we can’t wait for next year to get here!
