The YearOne Cup Minimize

The YearOne Cup is an annual award presented at the YearOne Experience to a vehicle deemed most worthy by a distinguished panel of judges made up of industry experts, media personnel, prior winners and VIPs. We began awarding the Cup in 2001 as part of our 20th Anniversary celebration, and it has grown into a prestigious honor that sees a number of extremely high-quality vehicles campaigning for the trophy each year.

The YearOne Cup is more than a trophy and a handshake, however. Along with the Italian lead crystal cup, the winner is awarded a $5,000 YearOne gift certificate and an amenities package that includes travel for the winning vehicle and owner to a number of events throughout the year. Several of our vendors have also stepped up to provide the YearOne Cup winner with products, and typically the Cup winner’s vehicle is featured in a number of magazines and television shows.

The manner in which the Cup winner is chosen is unique. We assemble a group of media representatives, industry figures, past YearOne Cup winners and VIPs from the automotive world and give them two simple instructions: First, the Cup winner must be a participant vehicle on the grounds during the event (YearOne and vendor display vehicles are not eligible). Second, the vehicle chosen must fall into a YearOne catalog line. With those two things in mind, we tell the Cup panel to pick their favorite vehicle. Note that no one from YearOne gets a vote – we want to keep the selection completely free from favoritism from our standpoint.

After all the ballots are in, we total the votes and invite the top three vehicles and their owners to a YearOne Cup Finalist ceremony. Each owner is interviewed and given the chance to tell everyone about their particular vehicle. We then announce the YearOne Cup winner. The two finalists that aren’t chosen are given YearOne Cup Finalist awards, and the big cup, big check and amenities package is awarded to the Cup winner.

We like to think the YearOne Cup is one of the more prestigious awards given during the year, and we do everything we can on our end to make it so. Entering the Cup competition is easy – just attend the YearOne Experience and register your vehicle as a participant.

Who knows, you and your ride just might be a future winner of the YearOne Cup!

A Participant ticket ($50) is required to be eligible for the YearOne Cup.

The 2008 YearOne Cup Winner Minimize

2008 saw another Tri-Five Chevy take the top prize, and the first international winner of the Cup - Mr. Richard Ruider of Guelth, Ontario, Canada, impressed the judges the most with his striking 1955 Bel Air ragtop. Heavily modified, the '55 certainly represents the state of the art in current street machine building. Congratulations to Mr. Ruider on winning the Cup, and building such a beautiful automobile.
