General Information
The Skip Barber Racing School Track Day program has been developed to provide you with the opportunity to drive your automobile at one of the most exciting racetracks in North America, Road Atlanta. The Skip Barber Racing School provides professional instruction for Track Days. This will insure a safe and controlled event for you to learn and have fun.
We ask you to remember that Safety is our number one priority and anyone racing or driving in an unsafe manner will be ejected from the event without a refund. If any questions arise concerning safety please do not hesitate to ask an instructor.
The events operate rain or shine, so come to the track prepared. No refunds will be given.
Please read and follow the rules so that everyone’s experience will be safe and enjoyable. We operate under the “Three Strikes and You're Out” philosophy, meaning that if you have more than three incidences, including, spins, offs, black flags, etc. you will be removed from the event without a refund.
There is a county ordinance at Road Atlanta called “quiet time” on Sundays from 10:00am-12:30 pm. During that time period no un-muffled cars are to be operated.

driving the correct line. After your session report to pit out to receive advice from the instructors.
2) All groups are lead-follow (students cars paced by an Instructor Lead Car), with a rotation procedure to change positions on the front straight). No passing will be allowed unless initiated by the Instructor in the Lead Car. No exceptions.
3) All vehicles should maintain 3-5 car lengths apart from one another in their respective Lead/Follow group. Do not “lay back” to get a run or the entire group will be slowed down to maintain proper vehicle separation. If you can not keep pace with your group do not drive out of your comfort zone, come in to the pit lane and we will place you in an appropriate group.
4) Your session will be announced approximately five minutes prior to the start. At this time you may pull up to pit-out and follow the instructions of the instructor at pit-out. When entering the track stay to the far right and watch your mirrors as you blend into the line.
5) Always do a warm-up lap at the start of your session. This gets you back into a rhythm, warms the tires and drivetrain. Very important.
6) After receiving the checker flag, slow down and do a cool-off lap. This is very important, as it will allow your brakes to cool, helping to prevent the rotors from warping and boiling of the brake fluid.
7) When entering the pit, signal by extending your arm out the window as you exit the last turn and stay to the right going under the bridge at Road Atlanta.
8) Keep your arms, including passengers in the car except when signaling.
9) If you have a mechanical problem while on the track, follow these procedures: 1. If you can continue, use your flashers and slowly return to the pit area. 2. If you must stop on course, check your mirrors and park in a non-target location, preferably near a corner station.
10) Driver changes, passenger pick-ups and drop-offs are to be made in the pit lane only.
11) Maintain a slow speed in pit lane and watch for pedestrians.
Procedures
1) Everyone must sign the track release when entering the facility. No exceptions.
2) All Track Days vehicles must pass the Safety Inspection. Upon arrival report to the Safety Inspection area located next to registration.
3) After your vehicle has passed the inspection, go to registration with your completed Technical, Medical, Waiver, and Safety Inspection Forms. There you will receive your car number, and additional information.
4) The Driver’s Meeting is held in the Main Paddock Track Days staging area at Road Atlanta.
5) Between sessions relax, open your hood and inspect your car. Pay particular attention to the brakes and tires.
Flags
Corner stations around the track may be staffed with workers that have flags to give you information and/or warnings. Familiarize yourself with the location of these stations and pay attention to the flags being displayed. Flag warnings pertain to the area from the flag station displaying the flag to the next station. The following is listing of the flags and their meanings used in the Track Days events.
Yellow: Caution, slow down. Be prepared to stop. If waving, proceed with extreme caution; the incident may be on the racing line. No passing. Command flag.
Black: You must enter the pits on the next lap and see the instructor at pit out. If the black flag is pointed at you in a furled fashion, this is a warning, you do not have to pit, but correct the problem. Usually you are driving outside your limits. Command flag.
Blue: This flag indicates that faster cars are approaching you, watch your mirrors, and point the cars by in the next passing zone. Passing is allowed in the A and B Groups only. Command flag.
Yellow/red Stripe: Debris flag. Indicates that the track surface may be slippery (oil or water), or that some type of debris on the track (car part, grass, dirt, etc.). Information flag.
Red: The session has been stopped. Carefully slow down and stop on the side of the track, preferably near a corner station. Wait for instructions. Command flag.
Checker: End of session. Slow down and do a cool off lap. Enter pit lane, wait for the instructors to return and provide critiques.
