The Best Welcome Home Ever

I have been a Trans Am fanatic since I could remember. My fanaticism with the Trans Am has become so profound that I been referred to as the “Trans Am Guy” in college and after my entry into the military in late 2004. My weapons of choice are a white 2001 WS6 that I drive regularly (I call her “Sugar”), and a 1978 SE that I am currently restoring now.

The event that brought the dream of having that perfect Trans Am closer, is when I went to the year one warehouse in Braselton to buy floor-pans for my 78’ Trans Am. A good and long time friend Deb (who is also a Trans Am fan) was with me and she was going to help me pick-up the parts from the warehouse. As we walked into the store I began to look around while Deb made a B-Line to the sales ociate. I could barely hear them talking. As I approached them the sales ociate looked at me with a smile hiding behind his salt-n-pepper mustache and asked me the unexpected. The friendly man said “would you like to take a look in the back?”. I had an odd feeling that this did not happen all that often, so Deb and I followed him down a long hallway fill with Year One cars on popular magazine covers. The hallway came to an opening on the right and as we rounded the corner I could start to make out a black tailfin, a few steps later my heart stopped and there it was.

I was face to face with not only my dream car but the dream car of many others, a Year One Bandit Edition Trans Am. The ociate and the mechanics were so kind, nice, and down to earth. This wonderful group of miracle workers took me on a full tour of their shop area where they make the magic happen. I was able to speak with the mechanics , share stories, tell them about my own personal project, and let them know how much I have been following their creation of the most deadliest Bandits ever built. I was able to see Burt’s Bandit, The Super Chicken, and BAN 1 up-close, but it got better. These awesome men at Year One were kind enough to take my friend Deb and I for a sweet ride in BAND 1. After getting in the car I could see the detail, quality, craftsmanship, and care that was put into the car. Once I was able to see it all up close I could tell why the price tag was so high. There is no such thing as a “cheep” part on the car. Everything was polished, professional, and perfect… I really want one. The ride was more than I could ask for. The power and torque on the car was enough to have the sweat on my face cling for dear life while I smiled and screamed in excitement.

Like all good things my visit did come to an end. It took me a while to catch my breath after all of the fun filled excitement. When it was all over I thanked the ociates and mechanics at Year One for all of their kindness. After being home for only 2 weeks after a 15 month deployment in Afghanistan the people at Year Once made me feel home  and whole again.

Thank you Deb

Thank you Year One

It pulled very well and was most impressive. My body was squeezed into the seat as I felt the rush and enjoyed the ride. The Guys at Year One did an awesome job with the car. I just can't wait to finish my own Bandit so that I can return the favor.
