That's probably the most beautiful car I've ever seen.  I've watched the intro about 5 times lol.  I sent the pic of it doing a powerslide to my best buddy and he was speechless.  It's got that resto-mod, retro-modern feel to it.  I'm not completely set on the interior but I'm sure seeing it in the flesh would shut me up.  I own a 1980 turbo T/A which is sort of a bitter sweet edition of the T/A.  Sort of frowned upon but unique at the same time.  I love the thing.  I'm just a blue collar joe with little cash that loves his T/A.  Same goes for my buddy with his 76 bird.  No real complaints here but, are more "burt reynolds edition" trans am parts going to become available so we can bolt them on to our own rides?  In any case it's nice to see you guys doing this, keep it up and change it up.  I think the Elanor edition GT500 started a little trend that I hope continues.  With all the cookie cutter cars out there, wouldn't it be nice if GM took the BRE Trans Am and made it a production car?  We can always dream eh.

Not to sound like a pest or anything but that fellow who mentioned he ordered a catalog 3 times and never got one isn't alone.  I didn't order 3 but I order one back in the winter of '06 and never saw it in the mail.  I just kinda shrugged it off.  I just ordered some parts over the phone and it went smoothly so I was satisfied but I thought I might bring it up.  Anyway, awesome car! Take care.

Matt

Okay, here's your chance to talk about the Burt Reynolds Edition TA. What do you think? What parts of the car does everyone like? Dislike? Speak now or forever hold your.... Well, you can speak now or speak later. But we'd prefer you spoke now.

Keith,

I think you guys have totally hit this one out of the park.  You've absolutely captured the essence of the car, yet completely modernized it.

Some questions:

First, from the pics I saw of that airbox, I'm uming the airbox is functional, but, is the flap?  I always though one of the coolest elements of the experience of driving an early T/A was watching that vacuum-operated flap open and close as you modulated the throttle.  If it's not functional on the BRE, I really think you should consider making it so.  I've also thought it would be cool to mount a shift light inside the shaker.  It would be in the perfect spot to see when you need it, and it would be completely out of sight when you didn't need it.  Just a thought.

Second, does it have the chrome exhaust tips with the dual outlets like the original?  I think that's an important part of the patina, and would look really cool done in larger tubin.

Third, It looks like the shifter sits much further back than the original.  Are you using an automatic console?  It looks much better with the shifter set back where you have it.

And finally, the wheels.  WOW.  They are just amazing.  Is that a cast or a CNC center?  I saw where you're making them yourselves.  I had no idea you guys had that capability.  Here's a bug I'd like to put in your ear.  is there any chance you guys would consider doing an 18" version of the similar "honeycomb" wheel they did for Grand Nationals and Third Generation Firebirds?

I saw the BRE TA today on Dream Car Garage and went straight to the internet to find out some more info about "The Bandit Car"...WOW WHAT A RIDE!!

I have three Trans Ams now and have owned my 78 WS6 and 73 455Ho cars since 1982 and think that they are awesome cars.  It has been great seeing the Trans Ams catch on (again) in the last couple of years and I am thrilled to see the BRE TA and the excitement that it will surely generate for all 2nd gen T/A's.  I love the wheels and the flat black Bird, but not sure about the gold seat material?  My overall impression however is very postitive and I can't wait to see one in person....Thanks for creating such a cool car and giving people in the super car market something to choose from besides the GT500E.

Thanks for the compliments on the car. To answer a few of the questions:

The shakers on the first two prototypes have been open with a honeycomb mesh screen. We are in the process of developing a flapper door for the shakers, at least for the carbureted cars, and should be available on production BRE cars. Nice thought about the shift light, too.

The exhaust tips are currently brushed stainless steel patterned after the originals in 2.5" and 3" versions. A polished stainless version will probably be an option at some point.

The shifter is a custom unit positioned in such a way that we could use automatic consoles in all the cars. Moving the shifter closer to the driver also allowed us to use a straight lever instead of a longer curved OEM-type piece.

The wheels have CNC machined centers. We don't actually do the machine work here, but have it done locally. As for building the mesh-type wheel, we never say never, but designing and developing the programs and buying the billets is expensive. It will all depend upon demand, of course. If we get lots of requests, certainly we would consider it. We are building modern-sized versions of the original Honeycomb wheel used on many Pontiacs in the early to mid-70s. A lot of what we may try in the future will be determined by how successful the Snowflake and original Honeycombs are.

Thanks again for the input.

Keith, this is a great looking car.  As an owner of a '77 since 1980, I have never lost my love for this car.  My thoughts are on the use of 79-81 wheel spoilers.  I have seen quite a few 79-81 T/A's with 77-78 nose gear and have always thought that the angular look of the wheel spoilers just did not compliment the 77-78 nose embly.  The original "rounded" shape of the 77-78 wheel spoilers would compliment this car much better.  Another thing I think would be interesting to explore is the 79-81 tail light embly paired with the 77-78 rear bumper embly.  I have never seen this done and there is the question of license plate location.  The 79-81 tail light embly certainly has a more modern appearance, but I understand the attachment many would have to the 77-78 embly on a "Bandit" car.   As far as the interior goes, I have often thought about how to modernize a second gen interior and without going for the all-out fourth gen look. You guys have done just about as well as you could while keeping the original feel.  The gauges don't feel quite right...maybe too flat and flush. Overall, the new engines and wheel sizes make perfect sense.  My 220 horses were something in 1977, but I dream of really making a 77 chicken scream...this could be the answer.... while I would NEVER give up mine for this type of modification, but I would certainly entertain buying someone elses.

Gotta love this car, gotta have a ton of love for someone that takes a ton of time, a ton of cash and brings back a REAL Pontiac Muscle car.  The only sad part of this is that you're not going to make thousands of them to get the price down to where the normal person can purchase one.  I can't even imagine a 3K a month car payment, but your buyers will just pay cash.  But as usual I will dream about it.  Maybe I will get a chance to see one in person some day.

Heck I don't even see many original 77's so seeing a BRE will quite an event.

Hey if you think you can sell one for 50K email me so I can snag it.... wishful thinking for sure.

Nice car guys !!

I love the overall look of it. I restored a 1971 Formula 455 the last 4 years all by myself and it was a hell of a job. But it's finished now. I even placed ledlights into the original housing wich leave the outside look of the taillights intact. Love to see you did quite the same thing  with the BRE. The only diverence is, is that the leds in the BRE are visible.

The interieur : I'm thinking to start all over with my interieur , now i've seen that of the BRE.

Overall a very very good job.

Umm....Did I read that right?  $120k for a 70's Trans Am?  Doesn't National Parts actually have the real car that Warner Bros gave to Burt?  That's probably not even worth half of what this new thing costs...wow, give me a Viper or even better, a Porsche 911...

But the BAN III 8.8 liter will kick the Viper or Porche's butt.
