Seat Mounting Brackets

I am inquiring about the seat mounting brackets used in the BRE T/A to mount the front Cerullo seats. I have a set of seats nearly identical to the Cerullo seats in my 78. I used aftermarket mounting brackets and the seats are too high. In the pictures I have seen and on DIY you stated the seats were mounted with factory brackets. The brackets don't appear to be 2nd Gen brackets. Can you please tell me what what year and model those brackets are from. Also, what modifications did you have to do to mount the seats to the brackets and the brackets to the floor, if any. Thanks for any info.

I just received my seats from Cerullo today, (for my 78Y88) the brackets included with the seats have a lower mount that bolts to the stock seat bolt locations in the floor.  the upper brackets attach the Cerullo seats to the lower mount.  hope this helps,   Cerullo made a set of seats for my gold car using camel tan vinyl and the hobnail cloth inserts, they are recovering my rear seat to match.  they look great.    I also received the 18X9 gold wheels today , they are AWESOME.

JCLawnman,

I appreciate the response. I do have mounting brackets for the seats like you describe. Unfortunately, because of the either the design of the bracket or the seat, the seats are too high when sitting in them in the car. There is a riser between the floor bracket and the seat sliders to mount the two together. As soon as the weather gets nicer I'm going to either try to have new brackets custom made or modify the stock brackets. What I would really like to know is what the guys at Yearone used to mount the Cerullo seats in the BRE TA. Again, I believe they are factory brackets but I would like to know what year they are out of and what modifications were done to them. Although my seats are not Cerullos they are very similar and I'm hoping the same modifications done to the mounts in the BRE TA will work for mine also.

Thanks.

The seat brackets from Cerullo have three positons for height adjuctment.  I lowered mine to the bottom hole, the seat bracket is sitting on the floor bracket in this postion,  I cut the end of the adjustment bracket off, at the third hole, so it would not dig into the carpet.

I also drilled out the extra hole in the seat adjustment glides to allow the seat to go back further, they don,t seem to go back as far a s the stock seats.

JCLawnman,

The brackets I used are exactly as you describe. I have done exactly as you did in order to have the seats as close to the floor as possible. Our brackets are most probably the same ones....numbers 178 & 179. They are tab brackets from an aftermarket manufacturer. I wanted flat brackets but they couldn't custom make those anymore (at the time I placed the order).  But, beacuse of the style of the brackets (being tab brackets) they mount the seats too high. It's not that I can't drive the car, it's just that my head almost touches the roof. Being able to use factory (GM) style seat brackets would eliminate the base bracket, the tab bracket and seat sliders which would position the seats as close to floor as possible. I am going to try to modify the original seat brackets to work with the aftermarket seats. By the way, my seats are black cloth perimeter with camel tan cloth inserts. They also have have the Firebird emblem under the harness slots and "Trans Am" above the slots. They are fantastic looking seats if I do say so myself.
