12/7/07: Testing...Testing... (continued)
Like most hot rods, the Burt Reynolds Edition Trans Ams are under continuous development, with new pieces being tested and evaluated for reliability and performance. The Ban III prototype, for example, has seen changes to the suspension, chassis, and interior since it first turned a wheel in May of 2007. The SuperChicken was built specifically to evaluate major drivetrain, chassis and suspension components for performance and longevity. Read more about the SuperChicken here.

10/4/07: Jerry Reed Checks Out the BRE TA - Country music star and legendary Smokey and the Bandit cast member Jerry Reed recently spent some time with the new BRE TA in Nashville. The "Snowman" was impressed with the car, obviously, and spoke a bit about what the movies did for his career.

Even though Jerry has been in a number of movies over the years, he still prefers to call Nashville home. While we were shooting these shots, Stacy David from ESPN2's Gearz show stopped by for a visit. He like the BRE TA so much, he tested the car thouroughly for an upcoming episode of Gearz.

7/19/07: We've added a host of new Ban III prototype images in the Gallery section. Some of the shots show the Ban III prototype next to a nice, original '77 SE - the comparisons are interesting!

5/28/07: The YearOne Experience is always exciting, but this past edition was even moreso since it included the public debut of the Burt Reynolds Edition Trans Am. A large crowd gathered around the YearOne and BF Goodrich trailers for the unveiling, with YearOne President Kevin King doing the honors of removing the black (appropriately enough) cover at 11:00 a.m. sharp. The Do It Yourself network was on hand to record the moment for their upcoming series on the building of the cars, and a host of media and enthusiasts provided lots of enthusiast applause. After the sleek, black Trans Am was disrobed, Chip Foose hopped in and brought the 7.0 Liter, 605-horse engine to life. Once the festivities were over, everyone was invited inside the ropes for closer look at the hand-built muscle car. Next up for this machine, which is officially Prototype 2, is the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour. Be sure to check out our Power Tour site for updates on the BRE TA as it makes its way through the midwest.

5/16/07: Unfortunately, due to illness, Burt Reynolds is unable to attend the debut of the Burt Reynolds Edition Trans Am on Saturday, May 19th, at the YearOne Experience. And while we are all disappointed that Burt can't make it, the car is still set to be unveiled at 11:00 a.m. sharp at Road Atlanta. Best wishes to Burt from all of us here - get well soon.
