Finding the intake manifold casting number is fairly simple. Usually, the casting number is on top of the manifold close to the carburetor mounting pad. Occasionally it's on the bottom of the manifold, which can pose an identification problem if it's still installed on the engine. Due to the very large amount of intake casting numbers, we recommend you use the Galen Govier Casting Number book (part # GGB1) to help you identify exactly what manifold you have.

Head casting numbers can be found in 2 places on both big- and small-block engines. The first is under the valve cover, where you'll find a complete number as well as other casting information like the date and clock. These numbers may be covered in hardened, burned oil (a.k.a. "coke") which may make them hard to read. The head must be off the engine to find the second position, which is located on the combustion chamber side of the head on the runners. Please see Galen Govier's Casting Numbers book (part # GGB1) to identify head applications by casting number.
