Accomplishments: • Dominated stock-bodied drag racing in the ‘50s and ‘60s, highlighted by 10 consecutive ATAA World Series wins • Built the first SFX gas-burning race car • First to run 9-and-8 second quarter mile passes in a stock-bodied car (1964 GTO - the “Mystery Tornado”) • Influenced the birth of the Funny Car in the ‘60s • Set many track, speed and E.T. records in the early and mid-‘60s in funny car shootouts • Inaugural member of the Super Stock Magazine Hall of Fame.

Hobbies: When not drag racing, spending time with friends who own successful NASCAR race teams.

Automotive Introduction: Caught the horsepower bug by “tweaking” the family farm tractor. Won first NHRA sanctioned drag race entered in 1955.

Profile: Innovating, meticulous tuner of the internal combustion engine, talented driver, fierce competitor, superb showman, and friend to the fans. Very outspoken about the sugardaddy racers who can buy turn-key race operations complete with highly experienced crews, equipment and multiple components. Believes in hard work to develop one’s own potential.
