On October 24, 1999, a group of F-body fans from Atlanta hit the Silver Dollar Raceway in Reynolds, Georgia, for their annual F-Body Shootout. This event is a great way for F-body enthusiasts to get together, race their cars, and have a good time talking about their favorite modes of transportation.

The program for the day included lots of test and tune time, followed by bracket racing. Cars with street tires were given their own class, as were cars on slicks. Doing this makes the racing more enjoyable, both for the drivers and the spectators.

The weather was beautiful for the event, with the slight chill in the morning air giving way to a warm and sunny afternoon. The cars responded well to the reduced temperatures, although street-tired cars had some launching difficulties due to a cold starting line. But, that made the racing even more challenging.

Over 100 cars attended this year’s event, and we’re posting a number of photos below. For a list of winners in each class, and more information on the Atlanta F-body Association visit their website at www.gafba.com.
