The popularity of fuel-injected cars continues to rise all the time, and one of the best things about this increasing popularity is the number of EFI-only events now taking place around the country. Case-in-point: the GM High Tech Performance EFI Nationals (GMHTP EFI Nats) held in late October at Bristol Dragway, in Bristol, Tennessee.

Yeah, there’re more acronyms in the title than a government bureaucracy, but GMHTP Magazine’s event at Bristol was a fantastic weekend at one of the most beautiful drag strips in the country. Carved out of the Smokey Mountains on the border between Tennessee and Virginia, Bristol Dragway is a state-of-the-art facility, and altitude notwithstanding, is a great place to race.

The weather was cool and sunny, which made for a fantastic weekend of activities. Along with the drag racing, event organizers allowed participants to make a few laps of the famous (or infamous) Bristol Motor Speedway high-banked oval. Blasting down the concrete straights and feeling the g-forces bury you in the seat on the 36-degree banking in the corners was worth the $10 charged by the facility. By the way, all the money raised from the oval-track laps was donated to a local charity.
