| Toyo Tires was gracious enough to lend us their new show truck, a 2000 Dakota Quad Cab. With 4 doors and a truly useful bed, you get the best of both worlds. We spent hours playing with the gadgets onboard. While waiting to be seated for dinner one night, Aaron, Pat, Steve and I played with the GPS system, testing its limits. We were amazed at how the GPS system, stereo and DVD player were integrated into the head unit of the radio. With a touch of a button a 6-inch LCD screen unfolded from the dash. From here you could control every electronic toy at the touch of a button. Toyo had supplied us with an appropriate movie to watch, Bullitt. We pulled into the parking lot of a restaurant with the famous car chase thundering through the sound system. It was eery traveling 5 mph over speed bumps in the parking lot but hearing screeching tires from the movie. On the drive up to Ohio, this truck became the camera vehicle. More than once they came by with both Steve and Greg halfway out the windows, cameras in hand. The new 4.7-liter V8 had plenty of power and the lowering springs gave the truck a great stance. Ive never been a truck guy, but this is almost the perfect vehicle. Now if Dodge would just offer a Hemi.... |
