Finally we were able to catch up on some sleep. Our departure time from Elk City was a nice, comfortable 11:00 a.m. It was a short run to Tulsa, and with the exception of a swarm of Oklahoma State Police around Oklahoma City, relatively uneventful. It seems the State Police were expecting a horde of law-breaking hot rodders to come ripping through town, endangering countless lives and destroying property in their wake. Either that or they thought this would be a good way to bulk up the state’s coffers. We managed to make it through without any fines, but others weren’t so fortunate. The Tulsa show was held at the Admiral Twin Drive-In, the last of a handful of operating drive-in theatres in the country. A large contingent of locals made it out to the event, and when combined with the 500 or so PT’ers made for a big gathering. Drive-ins are cool.
