| With the new mat in place, we put a new jack insulator (part # BM304) on the freshly cleaned and painted jack and installed it in the car.
The refinished spare, a new J-jook and nut (part # 5900N) are then placed in the trunk and secured. |

A new Aqua and Black houndstooth spare tire board (part #A68) and hold-down nut are next. The naturally finished hold-down nut was pretty rusty, so we used cast-iron paint (part # CT302), which simulates a bare metal finish, to bring it up to par. Be sure to wire brush the loose rust from the nut, and wipe it down with solvent before painting.
An Aqua and Black houndstooth spare tire cover (part #STA15) adds a more finished look to the trunk. If you have a metric 14" spare, the 15" tire cover is a better fit. The final touch to our new trunk is a new jack instruction decal. |
As you can see, the trunk compartment on our driver As you can see, the trunk compartment on our driver has come a long way in a weekend. With a little elbow grease, some paint and a few new pieces, your trunk can look as good as new also. Then, when you pop the trunk to remove the lawn chairs and cooler at cruise night, your cargo area is as nice as the rest of the car. |
