Our Project Formula is a bright red, 1988 Formula 350. Like all other 350 TPI cars, this one came with a 700-R4 tranny behind the small block. The rear axle is an Australian Borg-Warner 9-bolt with 3.27 gears. A factory aluminum drive shaft connects the tranny to the rear axle. One slightly unusual feature of this car is the lack of extensive options. It’s a coupe, with roll-up windows, manual locks, no rear defroster, etc. It does have a tilt column and A/C, but that’s about it.

Our plan for the car runs something like this:
Paint work:
Here we will give a quick overview of the painting process.
Rear suspension upgrade:
Our rear suspension upgrade will concentrate on strengthening the factory setup through the use of certain aftermarket components.
Front suspension and steering components:
The front suspension will get a complete rebuild with a number of performance upgrades.
1LE front brake upgrade:
In this segment we will install a performance front brake setup from Stainless Steel Brakes, Corp.
Wheel and tire upgrade:
Big meats are mandatory on any performance car, so we show you what’s involved in fitting a set of fourth-gen wheels and tires to a third-gen F-body.
Engine upgrades:
Our project car has a fresh, mildly modded 350 TPI engine in it, but we won’t let that stop us from adding additional goodies in search of more power.
Fuel system upgrade:
Ensuring our Formula’s fuel system can meet the needs of our modified engine, and nitrous kit, is the focus of this segment.
Ignition system upgrade:
An engine with plenty of air and plenty of fuel needs plenty of spark to fire it. Here we make sure the spark is available.
