There are two things all self-respecting 4th-gen F-bodies should have right off the bat - big meats and a killer stance. By big meats we mean at least a set of 17-inch wheels and tires, and by a killer stance we mean getting rid of the OEM four-wheel-drive look that plagues the cars as delivered from the factory. One of our guys here at Year One recently took delivery of a 2001 Z28, and while he's been more than pleased with the performance of the car, the wimpy 16-inch wheels and the nosebleed ride height bothered him to no end. Hey, no problem, he knew exactly where to go to fix both of these issues - the same place he works! The wheel issue was addressed first by fitting a set of 17 x 9 Firehawk wheels from SLP. Wheel installation couldn't be simpler, but once the new wheels were in place it seemed to accentuate the prodigious fender gaps even more. It was time to address the stance problem with a new set of springs. We chose Lakewood Sport by Eibach springs for a couple of reasons. First, Eibach has a great reputation for building good products, and second we happen to sell them. Changing the springs wasn't a huge deal, either, but it's a little more complicated than it is on an older vehicle. Actually, swapping the front springs is the only semi-difficult procedure. Changing the rears is exceedingly simple. To see how we did it, click on each of the images below.
