1970 Road Runner

1970 Road Runner

Looks stock - doesn't it? That's what Tom likes to have everyone think. All outward
appearances indicate that this is just another nicely preserved 1970 383 Road Runner.
Tom's car is set up to be competitive in the restored classes at shows as well as at the dragstrip.

1970 Road Runner Under the cast iron manifolds, date-coded plug wires, Corbin clamps and other concours-correct
goodies lurks a 451 cubic inch stroker motor from Muscle Motors. This motor consists of a 400
block and a specially machined 440 crank. Since it is still a low deck block, most people are very
hard pressed to tell it from the original 383.

With traction, this car should run low 13s at the dragstrip. Unfortunately, the four speed tranny
and stock-style skinny tires make hard launches a smokey endeavor. Some slicks would really help!
Tom is pleased with his stealthy ride and likes to show the hot-rodders that you can have a quick car
and still look stock under the hood.
