Year One Customer Car Show
1971 Demon

Here is my ‘71 Dodge Demon 340 that I have just recently completed. I am the third owner of this car. It came to me with a solid body, amateur paint job, original numbers-matching engine with 101,000 miles and three cracked pistons (from too much play), and a completely dry-rotted interior.
I completely stripped the car and after some minor body work, had it professionally
repainted. The engine has been restored/rebuilt to original, as well as the rest of the car. I
spent the entire winter stripping, cleaning, and painting virtually every piece on the car,
including sanding and buffing/polishing all of the stainless-steel parts on the car.
The interior set, which among a lot of other things, I got from Year One was installed by me. I basically did all the work myself, except exterior paint, with help from some friends. It all turned out pretty good and it's a blast to drive! This was my first attempt at a total restoration and I feel pretty good with the results.
The car came with quite a few options, here are some specs on the car: 340 c.i.d. with
original Carter Thermoquad carburetor (restored/rebuilt), 727 automatic transmission, and an 8-3/4 rear with 3.23 Sure-Grip. The car is Y3-Citron Yella with a black bucket interior. The car features a black hood treatment, hood scoops and hood pins, Go-Wing, AM radio with floor-mounted stereo cassette player, Rallye dash, Rallye wheels and power steering.
The Demon is a fairly rare A-body since Dodge only made these cars for two years, ‘71 and ‘72. It seems that Dodge got a lot of flack over the name of the car. It wasn't too bad finding parts for the car since the front clip is the same as the Dart and the back is basically the same as the Duster.
Oh, here's a real coincidence - this car was built November 4th, 1970, which was the very day my stepson was born! What are the odds? As you may guess, he wants the car. We now have a running argument, which looks better for their age?
