The Fall Automotive Nationals, also known as the Bristol Bash, is more of a family-oriented event than your typical car show. While the car show and drag races are a big part of the weekend, there also were many activities for the kids. This year the kid’s area was larger than before with a large inflatable slide, obstacle course, moonwalk, rock climbing wall, clowns, face painting, and a Hot Wheels race track. Other things to do for adults and kids alike were the slot car track, NASCAR racing simulator, go carts, and an ice skating rink.

On the automotive side, the Bristol Bash had many different events to suit anyone’s taste. The car show was open to all the car lines Year One supplies parts for and an open class for everything else. There was an SCCA-designed autocross course for those who wanted to test the agility of their car. A chassis dyno was available to see how much more horsepower that bottle of nitrous really adds. The drag racing competition was broken up into three categories, True Street Challenge, Muscle on the Mountain and the Factory Appearing Stock Tires (F.A.S.T.) Shootout.

If competition isn’t your thing, the car corral was a great place to look for that ride you’ve always wanted. There was also a swap meet for those hard-to-find parts and a manufacturers midway for all the newest parts. Many automotive celebrities were present to sign autographs and hand out awards throughout the weekend, along with some exhibition cars that put on a great show as well.

Car Craft also held their Real Street Eliminator event at the Bristol Bash this year. The event consisted of a cruise, autocross, and quarter-mile times from a select group of hand-picked entries. Check out the results of the Real Street Eliminator event in an upcoming issue of Car Craft.

Perhaps the biggest event all weekend was the Year One Cup awarded Saturday night to the single entry judged to be most worthy by a group of industry V.I.P.s and the invited editors and publishers of the major industry magazines. Following the awards ceremony and finishing out the night was a giant fireworks show.
